Is May a good time to visit Ethiopia?

Known as kiremt by the locals, the time around May is spent mainly in preparation for the upcoming monsoon season, as heavier, more frequent downpours start to spread across the land.

Much of Ethiopia is not yet bogged down by these showers, and heavy rains are still few and far between, however those travelling to the country towards the end of May should prepare for wet days.

Apart from the occasional shower, May is a time of relatively mild temperatures, with a monthly average of 22°C.

Our guide on when to visit Ethiopia goes into more detail on the differences in weather by region, and other considerations when planning your trip to Ethiopia.
