Is May a good time to visit Ethiopia?
Known as kiremt by the locals, the time around May is spent mainly in preparation for the upcoming monsoon season, as heavier, more frequent downpours start to spread across the land.
Much of Ethiopia is not yet bogged down by these showers, and monsoons are still relatively rare, however those travelling to the country towards the end of May should prepare for wet days.
Apart from the often occasional shower, May is a time of relatively mild temperatures, with a monthly average of just 22°C.
