Itinerary

Day 1: Addis Ababa

Upon arrival at Bole International Airport, your driver will meet you just outside the airport terminal and transfer you to the luxury Sheraton Hotel. Freshen up in the hotel before taking your first steps in the bustling capital city, Addis Ababa (meaning 'New Flower'). The city lies in the central highlands at 2700m above sea level and is Africa's diplomatic capital. Founded in 1887 by Emporer Menelik II, it is now the home of over 3 million people, along with a portfolio is fascinating museums, historic sites, churches, and sprawling markets. The Mercato market is the largest open-air market anywhere in Africa, and the surrounding Entoto hills offer dramatic views over the entire city. 

In the evening, you have plenty of choice for restaurants and bars, and there are a handful of cultural restaurants that showcase Ethiopian dancing from across the country. Well worth a visit on your first evening in the country.

Day 2: Bale Mountains National Park

Today you will drive to Bale mountains national park, En route visit the Awassa fish market, the Sidamo fisherman as they land their catches of Tilapia and catfish, and gut and fillet them by the lake. Then leave Awassa behind and drive along the rough road to the Bale Mountains National park, a journey that is both scenic and exciting.

Bale Mountain National Park is known for their wildlife. Over 60 mammals Species and 260 bird species have been recorded here.

Day 3: Bale Mountains National Park

Trek from Dinsho (3100m) – Finch Habera, 4hrs. Enjoy the beautiful landscapes and different birds; before the camp site (3300m) there is a waterfall, carved a deep cave under its ledge.

Day 4: Bale Mountains National Park

Trek from Habera – Wasama, 5 – 6 hrs. Ethiopian Wolf and birds like Tawny Eagle, Augur Buzzard and the endemic Lammergeyer will meet you on your way.

Day 5: Bale Mountains National Park

Trek from Wasama – Garba Gurcha (4,100m), 5 – 6 hrs. Cross Mt. Batu (4,203m), the second highest peak of the Bale Mountains National Park. The view over the lake and to the lowlands beyond is magnificent.

Day 6:  Bale Mountains National Park

Trek from Gabra Guracha – Senatti plateau, 4000m above sea level. Then after 2hrs walking met by the driver and proceed to the second highest mountain in Ethiopia, Mt. Tullu Deemtu 4,377m above sea level. Search for the endemic Ethiopia Wolf and Abyssinian Hare.

Day 7: Bale Mountains National Park

Today leave Bale and drive to Addis Ababa.
